4 Tips For How To Play Madden 23:

  1. Attack all parts of the field
  2. Left sideline – attack
  3. Middle of field – attack
  4. Right sideline – attack

If you bounce around from formation to formation and neglect this rule, you will become very predictable and inconsistent on offense.

Like in this guide, focus on one formation that has routes that can attack both sidelines and the middle of the field.

Formation: Gun Trips TE Flex

Play Setup #1: Double In Sail

Focus: Left sideline

Start off your offensive drives by attacking the sidelines. It avoids the best player on the field, your opponent’s user, who users over the middle. Plus 95% of players online, only have one defender dedicated towards the sideline.

This is your typical cover 3 shell. Notice how only the curl flat defender (light purple) is guarding the sideline. You must take advantage of that by using simple math: isolate that single defender with two receivers at different depths. That is exactly what we are doing on this play setup. If that single defender guards low, we throw to the higher route (the corner route) and visa-verse. Then we have a route over the middle of the field to occupy the user defender.

Play Setup #2: Dagger

Focus: Middle Of The Field

Once you force your opponent to allocate extra resources to the sidelines, then you shift your focus to the middle. However, throwing over the middle can be a dangerous place because that is where the user defender lies. Pay attention to the spacing between our outside receiver and the slot receiver on the crosser. They both run across the middle but have significant distance between each other. Throwing over the middle is a necessity for developing an unstoppable offensive strategy but the spacing between your primary routes is crucial when you do so.

Play Setup #3: PA Cross Shot

Focus: Right Sideline

Remember, attack ALL areas of the field. Have a well-rounded attack of abusing them on the left sideline, annihilating them over the middle, then assaulting them on the right sideline. AAA.

Notice how this crosser runs 10 yards deeper than the one on Dagger. This crosser runs deep to the sideline so will force a 30 yard zone drop flat from the defense (some opponents may not even use zone drops). If they put 30 yard zone drops, you can pivot to Dagger as the shorter crosser will get under the 30 yard flat.

Play Setup #4: Verticals

Focus: Deep Middle

Cover 2 zone will always be vulnerable deep especially in the deep middle. Since there are only 2 deep blues, 3 routes going vertical will torch it. The outside fade will occupy the deep halve on trips side. Then the crosser will occupy the deep halve safety on tight end side. This will leave the middle seam wide open for a touchdown.

This Gun Trips TE Flex is a great scheme to get you going in the right direction.

Now what about the defensive side of things?

Defense is even more difficult for most because only the offense knows where the ball is going.

However, I have a few more secrets up my sleeve that I guarantee you no one else has ever told you before.
